The Barton Reading & Spelling System® is a one-on-one Orton-Gillingham tutoring method that greatly improves the reading, spelling, and writing skills of children, teens, and adults who have dyslexia or who struggle to read. Lessons are multi-sensory, systematic, and explicit, incorporating visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic approaches to learning.
When intelligence + hard work doesn’t equal reading success, it is time receive a difference teaching method, one based on the science of reading and shown to be effective for struggling readers.
Personalized One-on-One Tutoring
In-person or online sessions via Zoom. Online tutoring is just as effective as in-
person learning plus there is no lost driving time. Online sessions are available to students once they have completed Levels One and Two.
Students progress through an established sequence of reading and spelling
concepts, moving from the most simple to the more complex.
Opportunity for practice is provided during each session so that mastery is
achieved for each concept.
I focus on building positive self-esteem for each student. Each student is unique in their interests and gifted areas. I draw on those strengths to increase their confidence and self-esteem.
My services change how children view themselves and their ability to learn. This often reduces secondary problems such as anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems.
I partner with parents to discuss areas that need improvement, how they can
support their child’s learning at home, and how to maximize other areas of
strength in their children.

Explain the Special Education procedure and timelines.
How to request an educational evaluation and receive appropriate services and interventions.
Review your student’s Evaluation and IEP documents.
Effectively work with families to ensure IDEA laws are followed and children receive the necessary services and accommodations.
